Except for domestic violence, including those involving an element of foreignness, in private law disputes arising from matters or transactions over which the parties can freely dispose, there is the opportunity to finally resolve the issue with the assistance of a registered mediator in the records. It is an alternative dispute resolution method dominated by the principles of confidentiality, voluntariness, and equality.

A mediator is a neutral individual registered in the mediator's registry who manages the mediation process between the parties, using appropriate communication techniques, and being knowledgeable about and applying mediation methods.

Including applying the mediation, it is a voluntary process. They can withdraw themself whenever they want, are in free will position to continue, to settle or end the process. The mediation process is guided by fundamental principles such as the impartiality of the mediator, equal rights for the parties, confidentiality of the entire process including the application, and the non-use of statements and documents. At the end of the process if the parties have an agreement, they cant file a lawsuit about these agreed points.

Mediation fee is covered by both parties equally unless otherwise agreed. The mediation fee is calculated according to the Mediation Wage Scale which is determined by the Ministry of Justice.
